Who? How?

Who?!

Who is my perfect reader? Hmm, I’ve been struggling with that question for a few days since I saw it in my lesson. As I mentioned in my Hello post, I originally started to write for my family and friends to show them what was going in my world. Now that I want to bring in more people, this is an important question to figure out.

My perfect reader would be someone who enjoys the things I like to share. Probably a maker or someone who fancies things handmade. Or someone who likes my many views of the trail. A gardener would appreciate my Cora’s Garden feature for the blooms and fruits of her garden. Maybe a cook/baker who would like to read about my recipe testing for my family and friends. Oh! And there are my random postings of caregiving for my parents.

From the trail: when we were foraging for bamboo shoots.

It would probably serve me better if I focused my attention on one or two subject matters, but I’m a bit unfocused in my life at the moment. I feel my blog reflects myself, and narrowing it down to one or two areas just would be me. But goals will help the focus and hopefully the consistency

How?

Goal 1: Launch my Etsy shop and use my blog to help promote my shop.

When

  •  before the end of 2021

How

  • Preview few pieces that are ready every two weeks to generate interest before the launch

Goal 2:  I would like to increase my daily average by 30%

When

  •  By the end of 2021

How

  • Use the scheduling feature to write posts ahead of time
  • Try writing some shorter post

Goal 3: Add a weekly feature.

When

  •  By the end of July 2021

What

  • A showcase of my favorite photos as I clean my collections up.

How

  • As I clean up my collections, create a folder of my favorite images

New Look

So many changes of recent, I decided to add one more. What the hell, why not? A new look–not to me but my blog. I hope I to generate more traffic and post on a more regular basis. I added advertisements to the site as I’m working part-time, and hopefully, I can generate some extra income.

And speaking of generating extra income, photos have been taken, and I will be posting to my Etsy shop soon (next week, keep your fingers cross). I’d hope to have more of an inventory; I guess I gave away many gifts during the prototyping phase.

The patio area, looking toward laundry room and storage

Another thing I’m aiming for a new look is the patio area of my parent’s house. I need more space. Going from a four-bedroom place to my childhood bedroom, a mere 10 x 10) is an incredible feat on my part.

I decided to enclose the patio and add a full bathroom, storage, and a bedroom. I met with the draft person to get drawings of what I want, and hopefully, 2021 will be the year of having more spaceā€”no more piles of stuff. There will be a lot of decluttering to happen. In the meantime, I’ll start a look board for what I love for the bathroom, entertainment area, and the bedroom.

Life: 07.13.2020

Few updates to my list to keep me going. And I added few new ones, too.

Aloha shirt patchwork quilt
I’ve got a lot of squares cut out but want more color in it and went to my storage unit to find Oat’s old aloha shirts that I kept for a project like this. So now, I’m in the process of taking apart more shirts. At least I decided on doing a 1/2 triangle pattern.

Double knit and strand work

I’m yet to start on learning double knitting. My tension of my strand work is so much better and I’m faster at reading charts that I think it will only help when I start double knitting.

almost done with #15

For non-knitters, double knitting is when you knit both front and back of the pattern at the same time. One side is the the reverse (in color) from the other. Here’s a video from Arne and Carlos about double knitting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_G5EOnRRb8.

Journaling

Got me a bright yellow journal, 2 sizes of pilot pens, correction tape and ruler to start. I’m bit of a mess, with smudges here and there. I need to take my time with those pens.

yellow journal and my supplies

It’s bit of bullet journal, bit of me just tracking things that going on with me. Like that it takes me away from my phone or my tablet which I need to do at night. It’s not colorful or pretty as some that I’ve seen on youtube and online but it’s a start. It does have sketches of ideas I have for things I want to make.

My Etsy shop

first prototype filled with items for my shop

Got 8 items done and they are hanging on my bedroom door waiting to be posted in my shop. I hope I post it by the end of the month. More to come.

New adds to my list

  • I have a plan to rework the patio where I have my sewing set up. I’m going to rearrange and get rid of items that haven’t been use in decades. Need a more usable space.
  • Make more fabric with my tiny scraps of fabric and thread.
  • Draft a blouse pattern for myself
  • make pin cushion for my cousin B and E, my sister C, and myself, maybe use the scrap fabric that I make. hmmm.

I’ll try and update my list once a month. Let’s see how far I get.
